About The Supportive Food Company®
The Supportive Food Company® is a food, farming and health directory created to help consumers, farmers, medics, carers, community groups and ethical businesses connect around better food choices, responsible nutrition and sustainable farming.
Hi, I’m Anthony Black, founder of The Supportive Food Company and main editor. This project is deeply personal to me as someone who continues the battle against “terminal “cancer ¹
My background includes farming, the hospitality sector, and as a founding director of 3 charities. I bring a wealth of experience, empathy and dedication to the table.
This site was created with the main the goal of supporting consumers, farmers, and medics in both prosperous and nations—especially those dealing with common diseases linked to poverty, poor nutrition, stress, and the broader impacts of modern lifestyles. Thank you for being with us.
I hope very much that you will join us ⇒ (private, no details stored, no mailings)
The Supportive Food Company mission
Our work brings together lived experience, farming knowledge, charitable service, healthcare awareness and a growing network of contributors and advisers. We do not present food, supplements or lifestyle choices as substitutes for medical care. Instead, we aim to encourage better-informed decisions, practical support, and respect for professional medical, nutritional and legal advice where needed.
What you see here comes from my 43+ years of working within the medical profession, e.g. as Director of a Medical Charity, and married to a Senior Nurse). Many years of research, using numerous official sources, and an unofficial Team of advisors³, whilst advocating proper medical care, and backing ongoing government and NGO initiatives (more below).
Professionally, my career path has been fourfold:
- Military service in the British and US Armies, including intelligence and reserves.
- Hospitality work as a chef, hotel manager, consultant, and restaurant owner.
- Charity leadership, including founding and directing organisations involved in counselling, medical referrals, rehabilitation, and practical support.
- Farming, with a long-term commitment to organic and sustainable food production.

Mike Moore. Senior Board Adviser.
A full-time businessman and global motivational teacher, Mike has spoken to The American Red Cross, the New York Yankees, IBM and scores of other businesses, universities and charities about the intersection of faith and successful business.
With an MBA from Illinois Institute of Technology, Mike has worked his way from Chicago’s south side to the perennial number one sales person for one of the world’s largest international leasing companies.
What others say: “Mike is a unique combination of intensity and freedom. A man of deep thought and equally deep feeling. You can’t meet him and not be impacted by the energy he radiates in his love for people.” – Lance Wallnau, Texas.
“Mike is the best person to show you that you don’t have to compromise values to be successful in the marketplace.” —Lijo Mathew, Founder, Slingshot Holding Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
What Mike says about this venture: “Someone asked me why am I involved in this project with Anthony (aka Tony)? It’s pretty simple: people get involved in things for one of three reasons:
- They believe in the project
- They believe in the person who started it, or
- They see and believe the impact it will have on humanity
Very few times are all things aligned… but with Tony? ALL 3 were there from the start… easy decision!

Eleanor Whyton – Eco-friendly products advisory.
Eleanor joins us with a substantial knowledge and experience of health foods, nutrition and eco-friendly products. For the past six years she has been running her own shop “The Natural Source” in Westbourne, Bournemouth,
It offers a carefully chosen selection of groceries, fresh produce and eco-friendly everyday products, supplying a carefully selected range of eco-friendly products, chosen to help reduce unnecessary waste, support more responsible everyday choices, and lessen the impact our homes can have on the planet.
Kat Burdett – Community Women’s health advisory
Kats experience, professional training, and her own journey brings her to us highly qualified. She has been through hormonal imbalances, PCOS, IBS, persistent skin issues, chronic anxiety, low mood, and low self-esteem, all of which showed her just how deeply connected our physical health, hormones, energy, digestion, skin, emotions, and mindset really are. She now runs her own counselling service: Reset & Rise. We particularly recommend her services for women who have struggled in the same way.
Guided by award-winning training from the College of Functional Wellness and accredited by the FHT, Kat blends evidence-based health science with whole-health, compassionate support. Her goal is to help women feel heard, understood, and empowered as they reconnect with their bodies, restore balance, and begin to feel like themselves again.
Kezia Selby. Youth Advisory
20+ years experience as a Nursery Nurse at all levels, also a qualified Youth Minister (Pastor).
Kezia has a wealth of experience in childcare, in children’s health management and well being, mainly of those between ages 1-12. She has a deep concern for pastoral care and mental health, and a substantial understanding of child abuse, poverty, modern nutrition and lack of exercise.
She is a keen advocate for change in Nurseries and Primary Schools in particular. Her bottom line? “Good nutrition and exercise from the outset is paramount against disease”.

Ted Reynolds. Elderly Advisory
Ted is 96 and has over 80 years experience in the food sector, much experience and a deep knowledge of elderly healthcare. His career began as a butcher in the days when there were very few chemicals around, and the word “organic” did not need to exist. It was natural from the start.
He then joined the RAF, after which he established numerous butchers/general shops, always maintaining an organic approach. He is one of our most helpful researchers and has a vast knowledge in the area of nutrition.
Our Team³ includes: organic farmers, financiers, lawyers, doctors, nurses, nutritionists, builders and many other “eco-friendly” people from related fields of expertise.
They are with us in a voluntary non-official capacity to give their personal opinions (what is good, suggested changes or additions etc.), and to help with research and publicity.
We are here to help, and in no ways hinder.
We avoid conspiracy claims and miracle-cure language. Where there is emerging or traditional evidence, we discuss it carefully, but we do not present foods or supplements as substitutes for medical treatment. We advocate that users obtain professional advice, in accordance with our terms.
WE CAN HELP YOU TOO and hope you’ll join us. Our HQ is in the UK, with offices in Texas & Spain, and representatives across 5 continents. Contact us here anytime.
Other Team members
The people we often work with in addition to the above, are those who are on our team in an “unofficial” advisory capacity, mainly on an occasional basis when most needed. There are too many to mention individually here.
They include Oncologists, Farmers, Doctors, Nurses, Medical students and Nutritionists. We also have 26,000+ members in our network, many keen to “advise”, and to whom we pay attention! 🙂
Even so, with all this we are not permitted to give you legal advice from the website. But if you contact us we can put you in touch with a suitable professional. One of ours or one in your area.

What we all believe
We strongly support the use of proven conventional and advanced medical treatment. Nothing on this website is intended to replace medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. It is to encourage supportive nutrition, better food choices, and healthier habits that may help strengthen wellbeing and quality of life, alongside appropriate professional care.
At heart, this site is for patients, families, carers, healthcare professionals, and community groups. It is rooted in respect for the farming community, and for those who work hands-on with people in need.
Charitable and medical-related work

A significant part of our lives has been devoted to charitable work, particularly in areas connected with crisis support, medical need, rehabilitation, and practical service. This has included:
- Crisis counselling, medical, and homelessness support
- Inter-denominational and community rehabilitation projects
- Employment and rehousing initiatives
- Leadership roles within medical and humanitarian charities
One of the most significant chapters of Anthony’s life was serving as a national director for The Leprosy Mission, a medical charity working in 23 nations. During that time, I also had the privilege of working with Princess Diana in her role as Patron.
Those experiences left a lasting impression and deepened his understanding of dignity, suffering, compassion, and service.
Why Supportive Food matters
We know that many people today feel overwhelmed by poor diet, conflicting information, and preventable ill health. We also believe that food, when approached wisely, can play an important supportive role in health and recovery. Supportive Food exists to encourage better choices, greater awareness, and a more thoughtful relationship with nutrition and wellbeing.
Medical Advisory Board
We will also soon be adding a compile a listof the medical advisors on our Board, whose experience and guidance help strengthen the integrity of our health-related content. This is important to us. Where health is concerned, compassion matters, but so does responsibility, accuracy, and respect for proper medical care.
A final word
Anthony: My life has taken many unexpected turns, from hardship to privilege, from success to loss, and from ambition to a simpler desire: to leave behind something useful. If this website helps even a small number of people to feel better supported, better informed, and less alone, then I will be entirely happy and grateful.
With best wishes for your success, health and happiness.
Anthony R N Black.
